This will be my last entry in my hikone_cass journal. I just completed confirming my flight online. (also read that those tickets purchased before sept. 1 can still have their luggage be 70lbs.... so I am REALLY hoping that is true)

Today I turned in my bike (not before taking some final pictures with it).. walked to lawsons one last time and then we had the closing ceremony. We received really nice certificates. After the ceremony we had what they called a "tea party" downstairs. Yummy cake! My class took a group picture! All 9 of us plus Melville. Then we received our grades. I didn't do so well on the final which basically stinks because I think it was the deciding factor between me getting a B and a B-. But oh well.. I can live with a B- because it was a VERY hard semester and I feel that I worked as hard as I could.

I had my room check later today. It was kinda dumb cause all she did was walk around and opened up a few drawers to make sure nothing was in them. All that is left for me to do is eat some stuff out of my refrigerator and give the stuff that is in my freezer to Nikki.

Oh.. speaking of Nikki.. Melville came over to us at the "tea party" and basically told Nikki that she has to find a new friend now. But we were good friends because our personalities were similar but not exactly alike. Kinda funny. So again Nikki, I am sorry for leaving you. I hope someone as cool as me moves in that wants to travel all over with you. As much as I am ready to go home... I still had some AMAZING times with you out and about Japan! I will miss you back at EMU... but its cool you live so close cause our friendship doesn't have to end in Japan!

Japan has been many things in my life. New experiences.. New friends... the hardest semester of my life. And despite the CRAZY studying... It was a very amazing semester and one I will never forget.

I guess there isn't anything else to say. I passed... Japan is awesome and I want to come back someday and see more places. So for now it is Sayonara Japan.

This is one of my last posts in this journal. It is kinda sad.. but good too. My time in Japan will be something that I will never forget. I have been to many exciting places... ate some rather interesting food.... met some cool people.... oh and studied my butt off. But it all was an amazing experience.

Today after the horrible final, Hiromi picked up Nikki and I and we headed out to find a Chasen. (the bamboo brush used during tea ceremony) Luckily, Hiromi being a licensed tea ceremony teacher, she knew right where to go! So Nikki and I finally got those. Then Hiromi took us to her favorite store where I bought an AWESOME tea bowl. It is very cool looking. So during tea ceremony, when you are supposed to admire the bowl, this one definitely deserves admiring! lol!

When we came back I unpacked what I already packed.. and repacked. Everything fits! But I don't know if my big one is less than 50 pounds. (Stupid NorthWest had to go and change the requirements.. so wrong) But there isn't really anything I can do about it now, so if it is over, I guess that just means me paying extra. Oh well. I tried. But it is still good that I shipped some other stuff home.. because my suitcases are pretty stuffed without that stuff in them.

Well, I guess I will sign off for now. I will update again tomorrow about the closing ceremony and final grades and such.

so has anyone heard of these movies...

"The Perfect Man"

"Sky High"

"Noel"

They are the movies playing on my flight home.. and the only one I think I have heard of is Sky High. I think that one is about the high school where superhero's kids go or something like that.

Might be more sleeping on this flight then watching movies... which would be good anyways.

NO MORE JCMU JAPANESE CLASS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell that I am extremely excited about that? It actually went by fast today.. which is really good because I was really dreading it going by slow.

Today when I woke up Nikki told me to look out my window.. and it was SNOWING. The ground was covered in it. Luckily it has melted on the roads and sidewalks so Nikki and I can still go to the store like we had planned later today after my Minorities class is over...which I hope does not go on forever. Seriously. if a teacher could win a prize for dragging class out.. this one could. Its not always a bad thing..but when I have stuff to do it is.

I have to send my last two boxes home. Hopefully my suitcases will be good weight. I am going to stuff the little one with all of the heavy stuff cause there is no way it could get over 50.

Also there is a safety meeting today because of the fire. I don't think I should have to go... for one.. I only have 4 more days in this place. and two.. it interrupts my talking time with a special guy! i shouldn't have to drop everything and run to a meeting just because now they decide to have one. Grrr. Oh well.

Ok.. time for some lunch..im hungry!

Dec. 10th, 2005 @ 10:27 pm dinner........and pink dust
Current Mood: hotfire
Today Hiromi and her daughter took Nikki and I out to dinner. We went to an Italian Restaurant. We had Cheese Fondue, Cheese Rice (it has a special name that I don't know), Spaghetti,, and desserts (I had cheesecake and this chocolate dessert) All was very yummy!!

After dinner we went to this arcade where we got to see why Japanese girls LOVE those mini photo booths. It was very cool! Nikki and I did a picture that makes it look like we are in a train! Lots of fun!!

We then headed back to JCMU. This is where it got...exciting? We pulled in and there were like 3 firetrucks in front of the dorm. Plus a cop car. We were very surprised and curious as to what is going on. We ran over to the group of students outside to find out what was going on. Apparently, in this guys room downstairs they were cooking tempura. They forgot to turn off the stove... (i think they must have been eating in another room). Anyways... it started a rather large grease fire. His kitchen is rather... melted. Also.. everything is covered in the pink dust stuff leftover from the fire extinguishers. He feels so bad... but everyone is ok and nothing of value (ex. Computers) were damaged. We heard about 4 people called 119 (911 in Japan). And the cook from the restaurant adjacent to JCMU came over with a fire extinguisher. Right now.. about 6 people are trying to get the roommate's room cleaned up before he gets back. (Nikki went down to see if they needed any help..but you can only fit so many people in these apartments)

So now, all of JCMU stinks and the first floor hallway is really dusty and smoky. But everyone is ok and nothing but the kitchen is really damaged.

Oh the exciting things that happen at JCMU!

Current Music: Japanese Christmas Music
Yay! The speech is over!!! I feel that it went fairly well. I didn't read it the whole time.. only a few times did I actually have to look down at my paper. So that was good! Only made a few mistakes. So I am happy! One thing down.. two more to go.

Those two more things are my Japanese Minorities Class final paper and my final Japanese test. Not too worried about the paper.. its the final Japanese test that is going to be a killer. Oh well. I have some time to study for it.. so it should be ok. I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Tonight my conversation partners are taking Nikki and I to an Italian Restaurant. (yeah.. Japanese Italian...?) But it will be fun. We always have a good time.

Tomorrow Nikki and I might be going to that used kimono shop. I really want to get a kimono! So that will be fun! Monday (we don't have class) I will probably work on my paper and study a little. Tuesday is my last class!!! Wednesday is a study day and Thursday is the final test. Then Thursday and Friday are going to be getting the rest of everything packed up and taking it to the office to weigh it to make sure it is under 50 pounds. (Stupid NW had to go and change the restrictions on me) The end is coming quickly!
